Privacy Policy

1.1 Data you provide to us

When using the application, we collect the following information only with your consent:

Data stored locally on your device:

• First name: Used to personalize your daily encouragements
• Gender (Male/Female): Allows adaptation of encouragement wording
• Email (100% optional): Only if you choose to provide it during onboarding. Used to send you important news about the app. You can use the app completely without email.
• Usage preferences: Visual theme, animation speed, haptic feedback, text size, daily notification time

Anonymized collected data:

(sent to Supabase with an anonymous identifier)

• Age range: Used for anonymized statistics
• Christian denomination: Helps understand our audience (sensitive data Article 9 GDPR - collected with your explicit consent)
• Support choice: With or without active support
• Notification preferences: Chosen period and time
• This data is linked to an anonymous identifier (analytics_user_id), not your real identity

Optional publicly shared data:

• Prayer intention: If you choose to share it on the community prayer wall, your first name and prayer will be visible to other users

1.2 Automatically collected data

To improve the application and understand how it's used, we automatically collect certain anonymous data:

Usage data (via Mixpanel - EU servers):

• Interaction events (app opening, verse viewing, etc.)
• Usage statistics (number of verses viewed, streaks, etc.)
• Device type and operating system version
• Application version

Attribution data (via Tenjin - only with ATT consent):

• Application installation source
• Ad interactions (if you accepted ATT tracking on iOS)

1.3 Data we do NOT collect

We NEVER collect the following data:

• ❌ Email address (unless you choose to provide it during onboarding)
• ❌ Phone number
• ❌ Postal address
• ❌ Precise geographic location
• ❌ Banking or payment information (handled directly by Apple/Google)
• ❌ Contacts or photos from your device

2.1 Purposes

We use your data only for the following purposes:

Experience personalization:

• Display your first name in encouragements
• Adapt encouragement wording (masculine/feminine)
• Apply your display preferences (theme, text size, etc.)

Application improvement:

• Understand how the application is used (anonymous analytics)
• Identify bugs and technical issues
• Develop new features

Communication with you:

• Sending daily notifications (only if you've enabled this option)
• Reminder to discover your encouragement of the day

Advertising attribution (only with your consent):

• Measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns
• Understand how users discover the application

2.2 Legal basis (GDPR)

The processing of your data is based on the following legal grounds:

• Consent: You explicitly accept our terms of use and this policy during onboarding
• Contract execution: Necessary to provide you with the application's features
• Legitimate interest: Application improvement and anonymous audience measurement
• Explicit consent (Article 9 GDPR): For sensitive data concerning your religious beliefs (Christian denomination, shared prayers), we obtain your explicit consent during onboarding. You can withdraw this consent at any time by deleting your data via the application settings

3.1 Where is your data stored?

Local storage (on your device):

• Your first name, gender, and preferences are stored locally on your device via AsyncStorage
• This data never leaves your device
• It is deleted if you uninstall the application

Server storage (anonymous data only):

• Mixpanel (servers in the European Union 🇪🇺): Anonymous analytics
• Tenjin (with ATT consent): Marketing attribution and advertising
• RevenueCat: Subscription management (no personal data, only subscription information)
• Supabase (European Union 🇪🇺): Community data (prayer wall, feedback, anonymized onboarding data)

3.2 Security

We take the security of your data very seriously:

• ✅ Encrypted communications (HTTPS only)
• ✅ Local data protected by the operating system (iOS/Android)
• ✅ No personally identifiable data sent to our servers
• ✅ Mixpanel servers located in the EU (GDPR compliant)
• ✅ No data sharing with unauthorized third parties

• We never sell your data to third parties
• We only share your data with essential services for the application's operation
• These services are subject to contractual data protection obligations

5.1 Right of access

You can view all your data at any time in the application:

• Profile > My Information: First name, gender
• Profile > Settings: Display preferences
• Profile > Statistics: Usage data

5.2 Right to rectification

You can modify your information at any time: Profile > My Information > Edit

5.3 Right to erasure

You can delete all your local data: Profile > Settings > Privacy > Delete all my data

Important: This action is irreversible and deletes all your local data (favorites, statistics, preferences).

Regarding anonymous analytics data (Mixpanel), it is not linked to your real identity and therefore cannot be individually deleted in accordance with GDPR.

5.4 Right to object

You can object to advertising tracking:

• iOS: Refuse ATT consent when requested
• Android: Disable tracking in app settings

5.5 Right to data portability

The data you provide (first name, gender) is already visible and accessible in the application. Given the minimal nature of this data, we do not offer automatic export. If you wish to retrieve this data, contact us.

5.6 Right to withdraw consent

You can withdraw your consent to advertising tracking at any time in your device settings (iOS) or application settings (Android).

6.1 Mobile application

VersetVie is a native mobile application (iOS/Android) and does not use cookies (specific to the web).

We use similar technologies to:

• Store your preferences locally (AsyncStorage)
• Anonymously identify your device (Device ID)
• Measure application usage (analytics)

6.2 Web version

There is no web version of VersetVie. The application is available only on iOS and Android.

8.1 Local data

Data stored on your device is retained:

• Indefinitely as long as you use the application
• Automatically deleted if you uninstall the application
• Manually deleted if you use the "Delete my data" function

8.2 Analytics data

Anonymous analytics data (Mixpanel) is retained for maximum 2 years after collection, then automatically deleted.

8.3 Attribution data

Attribution data (Tenjin) is retained for maximum 24 months after collection, in accordance with their data retention policy.

9.1 EU servers

Analytics data is stored on Mixpanel servers located in the European Union 🇪🇺, thus ensuring GDPR compliance.

9.2 Other services

• RevenueCat (United States 🇺🇸): Framed by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) to ensure a level of protection equivalent to GDPR
• Tenjin (United States 🇺🇸): Transfers framed by Standard Contractual Clauses and appropriate guarantees compliant with GDPR
